    Rust wipe day checklist

The players who dominate wipe day aren't necessarily better aimers — they're better prepared. Print this checklist or bookmark it before Thursday.

A wipe-day checklist prepares everything before the server resets: graphics and keybind settings, a planned base design, a chosen spawn region, and a clear build order for the first hour. Working through it means you spend wipe day gathering and building instead of fiddling with menus while others take the good spots.

    Day before wipe

    • Confirm the wipe time on /wipe-schedule.
    • Update Rust and restart Steam to avoid launch-day patch delays.
    • Set graphics for FPS: mesh 100, shadows medium, water quality 0, effects medium.
    • Check keybinds — reload, inventory, F1 kill, voice push-to-talk.
    • Warm up in server browser or aim trainer for 20 minutes.

    Hour before wipe

    • Join Discord voice with your team. Test mics.
    • Decide roles: farmer, roamer, base architect.
    • Agree on grid preference (coast vs inland, monument proximity).
    • Queue the server 5 minutes before wipe. Legend members get skip.

    First 10 minutes in-game

    • /kit immediately.
    • Sprint toward the agreed grid. Don't gather on the way if it slows you down.
    • Drop TC as soon as you find a workable spot. Placement beats perfection.

    First 30 minutes

    • 2x1 with airlock, sheet metal doors if you can afford.
    • 1000 stone in the TC minimum before you leave the base.
    • One furnace running. Cook wood for charcoal.

    Hour one and beyond

    • Run a small monument for components.
    • Watch the kill feed — it tells you who's geared and where.
    • Upgrade to sheet by hour two or you're a target.

    Common mistakes

    • Perfectionism on the first base. Build fast, refine later.
    • Splitting up too early. Fights are 1v3s waiting to happen on wipe day.
    • Skipping crafted meds. You'll get shot; healing time = winning time.
